At first in the story Ashley was a sweat innocent child that was put in to a rough life that no one should go through. But now over time Ashley has started ti become meaner and meaner. She has started to realize what is actually happening to her and it is changing the way that she acts now. She is mean to her brother that she loves so much, she hits him and pulls his hair because she thinks that he is keeping her from her mother. Also she is now starting to boss her foster parents around and give them sass. She doesn't listen to when people are talking to her and she thinks that she knows best. Not having a stable home is now affecting the way that Ashley is acting and is treating others. She has never gotten attention from anyone that cares for her and she is always striving to be noticed.
This book really connects to the whole world. So many kids are being out in foster care all over the world and we don't even notice it. These children have to live with the fact that they have never had a home just to themselves and their blood family, many of them have gone through rough lives like Ashley and most of the world isn't paying any attention to it. There are about 400,000 children in foster care in just America and this problem is world wide. The average ages of kids in foster care is 9-10 years old and the older ones are 11-15 years old. It is hard to imagine that so many kids in the world are in Foster care and we haven't even though about it.
