The book that I have started and finished was "The Blind Side". This book is a nonfiction book and is the last book that I have read this semester. This book was about a boy named Micheal who is tall and big and he was separated from his mother a long time ago and ever since then he has been struggling to live on his own. He hasn't had a home or very much money that he can use to buy essential things like food. One day Mike walks in the cold to go the school gym when the family, the Tuohy's,  notices him. they stop their car and pick him up for the night so he can sleep at their house, not in the cold. the next morning Mike tries to leave but Leigh Anne Tuohy offers him to stay for dinner. After that she offers Mike a bed in the house for him to stay at so he is not out in the streets. Mike starts staying with them and after a while he enrolls in school. The whole family of Mom Leigh Anne, Father Sean, brother SJ, and sister Collins all love mike very much and want him to stay with them. After Mike starts in school he starts playing football he he is actually really good. They all start calling him Big Mike because he is a big man and after a while of playing football for his school he gets really good and gets the chance to play at a professional level, But Mikes grades aren't that good so he gets a tooter to help him with his grades. After a while of Micheal staying with them they buy him all of his clothes and a car and they pay for his school so he is basically a part of the family, but they want to make it official so the Tuohy's adopt him. Micheal gets mad at his family and runs away to find his birth mother and he gets in trouble with these bad kids in the neighborhood that help him realize that he loves the Touhy's and that they are his real family that he wants to be with. In the end Mike ends up going to college at Ole Miss and he plays football there.

What I liked about this book was that Micheal came from a very rough family and this new family took him in without knowing him at all. I also like how the book describe Mike before and how dynamic he was because he changed over the course of the story with his new family and I just loved how he turned out. Some things that I didn't like about the book is how it didn't really describe how is life was before he was with the new family. I wish it would have described that part a little more in depth because that is a part of Micheal and how he became that man that he is today.

I would recommend this book to people of all ages because it is a family friendly book that shows a loving family that takes in a good boy and helps him through the rest of his journey in his life. I also give this book a 5 star rating because I loved how well written out it was and it always kept me wanting to read more.
The book that I finished is Three little words, what happens in this book is Ashley finally finds a home with the Courters that adopt her. Her brother gets adopted by a family but then he returns back to the foster care home. At first in Ashley's new home she was really mean to her parents and didn't like them or their rules very much. But after a while she started to cool down and she got along very well with the father and with her new older brothers. But it take her a while to warm up to her new mom. Ashley never wanted to let go of her moms trust that they had with each other, saying that Ashley would never call anyone else mother or love anyone else as much as she does her mom. Ashley doesn't even want to tell her foster parents that she loves them. But in the end Ashley does admit to herself that she love the family and she is great full to have a family that wants to keep her and love her back. Ashley finally lets go of her past and of her mother and lets her new family in with her three little words. I Love you.

The things that I liked about this book was that the descriptions if everything was very clear. They Ashley described her own actions very well and it made it clear to what she was doing and why she was doing it. It was like watching a movie clear as day. Also I liked how strong her love was toward her mother. Even though Ashley's mother was a good mom and she was never there for her, Ashley kept her promise to her for a very long time. That shows how loyal Ashley is and how strong her love bonds are to her. There wasn't anything about this book that i would change!

What this book was really about was  how Ashley's long ride of her life is about learning to love, take chances and growing up. Ashley has gone through so much rough times in her life that I could not even imagine trying to live with. And I am glad that Ashley decided to write about her hard times to try to get people involved in what is happening in the world today and to help people who can relate to what she has gone through. I would give this book a 5 star because it was an amazing book that I would never had thought to read before and I would recommend this book to anyone!

I am still reading Three little words by Ashley Rhodes and what just happened is Ashley switched to another home but this time the woman is evil. The Mosses are foster parents that pretended that they are nice and caring, but really once the workers leave they are mean and abuse their kids. The only reason that they have foster kids is because they get paid to take care of them. They physically abuse the kids that they have and they live in very poor conditions with no air conditioning and small rooms that many of them stay in at the same time. Any time a kids does something wrong they are abused by being spanked or having to run or having to do things and if they can't complete the tasks then they beat them. Also if they say something wrong then the mother pours hot sauce into their mouths. The kids all have to share clothes and they all only get 6 inches of water to bathe everyone in (at the time the Mosses had 14 children staying with them). This was a horrible experience for Ashley and her brother and they are scared for life from this. The case workers never believed Ashley and so the Mosses got away with it. Mean while Ashley has gone to two different houses after that and her and her brother are now separated again. Ashley just got to start visiting her mother again and she believed that she could live with her again, but then they found drugs in her mothers system and Ashley is never allowed to live with her again. Ashley starts to believe that it is her brothers fault that she can' t see her mother anymore because her mother told her that Ashley belongs to her and Luke belongs to his father. This is what got Ashley and Luke separated again.

At first in the story Ashley was a sweat innocent child that was put in to a rough life that no one should go through. But now over time Ashley has started ti become meaner and meaner. She has started to realize what is actually happening to her and it is changing the way that she acts now. She is mean to her brother that she loves so much, she hits him and pulls his hair because she thinks that he is keeping her from her mother. Also she is now starting to boss her foster parents around and give them sass. She doesn't listen to when people are talking to her and she thinks that she knows best. Not having a stable home is now affecting the way that Ashley is acting and is treating others. She has never gotten attention from anyone that cares for her and she is always striving to be noticed.

This book really connects to the whole world. So many kids are being out in foster care all over the world and we don't even notice it. These children have to live with the fact that they have never had a home just to themselves and their blood family, many of them have gone through rough lives like Ashley and most of the world isn't paying any attention to it. There are about 400,000 children in foster care in just America and this problem is world wide. The average ages of kids in foster care is 9-10 years old and the older ones are 11-15 years old. It is hard to imagine that so many kids in the world are in Foster care and we haven't even though about it.

The book that I am reading is three little words. What is happening right now is Ashley and her brother Luke are being put in another home. This is happening because their grandpa just died and her step-grandma isn't allowed to keep them because she isn't related to the kids. So she lied to the worker who is putting the kids into new child care, and she told her that the grandpa was fine and she is going to wait till he gets better to become a foster parent and keep the kids. But this was not true because the grandpa had been shot. Then the woman who finds new homes for the kids, Ava Williams, Finds out that the grandpa is not working and she takes the kids and outs them in a new home in Florida. This makes Ashley and Luke really upset because they don't want to leave another home again, Adele told the kids that they are just going to go to Florida to visit their mom and then they will come back to Adele. For Ashley's 6th birthday she gets to go back to Adele's house and she lives there for a little while and then she moves on to somewhere else.
I can't even imagine what it would be like to not have a stable home and have everyone lie to you all the time. Ashley has lived in so many different homes already and she is only 6 years old. A child shouldn't have to go through that much pain of not having a stable home and not having just one person take care of them. Also everyone is lying to her all the time about her mother and where she is going to live next. They keep telling her that she is going to see her mother soon and that she is going to visit her, when this is not the truth. Ashley grew up with her mother and she doesn't know all the bad things she has done just the good things, so Ashley misses her mother very much.
The Author of this book is Ashley Rhodes. Since this book is a memoir that means that Ashley is writing about her own life. Ashley has gone through everything that is written in this book, it is all true. She wrote the book on her life growing up as a little girl and having to live in foster care. Ashley Rhodes has not written any other books but this book that she did write was a remarkable New York Times best seller. I am excited to read more of this book.

I just started a  new book "three little words" by Ashley Rhodes. This is a memoir about how Ashley was put through foster care and she had a very rough life. Ashley barely new her mother and from what she remembered about her was that she was very loving and caring to her. But Ashley's mother was not a good person and she was put in jail for many things. Ashley's mom, Lorraine, had two other sons but one of them, Tommy, died as a very young baby and her brother Luke. Since Lorraine was put into jail and so was her husband, she could not take care of her kids anymore so she put them into foster care. At first when Ashley and Luke were put into foster care they had a nice family that kept both of them, but Ashley got to be a 'bad kid' and she was separated from her brother and lived with two other family's. Ashley and Luke visited their mother once and then Lorraine stopped showing up and that made Ashley very upset. Then Ashley and Luke got put back together in the same home with their grandpa and step-grandmother, Adele. Tragically Ashley's grandpa was put in jail and was bailed out and then a couple of weeks later he was shot and killed right in front of Ashley, Luke, and Adele. That is where I am right now in the book.

I think that this book is very interesting and I am surprised that I like it. Normally the types of books that I like to read are Fiction. I like these kind of books because it is nice to take  break from my real life and think about another life of someone else that is not real. This book is a memoir and it is real interesting to know that Ashley Rhodes has actually lived through all that she is writing about. I am excited to read more about her troubled life.

I predict that later on in the book that Ashley will never find a stable home. She has already lived through about 5 homes right now and she is not even 5 yet. I think that Ashley with start to call her step-grandma mom and right when that happens she will be separated from her. Also I think that Ashley and her brother will get separated from each other again and they will grow apart. I think that this will happen because Ashley has already been separated from her brother because her brother is younger and calmer than her.

The book that I just finished is "If I Stay". At the end of the book it was all very confusing for Mia. Her Grandpa had just told her that it was okay to leave because he knows that it would be hard to live a life without her mom, dad and her little brother. This makes Mia feel really good about her decision of weather she stays or not because she knows that either way she will have people with her and supporting her every decision. Then her best friend Mia comes in and she tells her that even though her Mom, Dad and Teddy all died and she technically doesn't have a family, she still has everyone out in the lobby for her that is her family too. They all care for and love her very much and it is a family even though they aren't all blood related. Then Adam comes in. Her boyfriend that she loves very much, and at first she doesn't want him to come in because she thinks that it will make her even more confused and not know what to do anymore. But she is to weak to get up and walk away, so once he comes in he tells her that he needs her to stay with him because he wouldn't be able to live a life knowing that she wouldn't be in it and she would be missing out on so many things like having a family of her own, even if it isn't with her boy friend. Adam then runs off for a while and and comes back with headphones and he outs them on her ears and she actually hears the music of Yo yo mama that Adam picked out for her. Mia can't stand being like this anymore and she starts seeing her future ahead of her if she stays. I will let you figure out what she decides from there.

I would recommend this book to anyone weather old or young! This was such a good book and it was hard for me to put it down. It had such a great love connection everywhere throughout everyone. She loved her family so much and she hung out with them all the time. She never got angry with her family or was annoyed by them, she loved them very much and you could tell that from all of the stories she told. She also loved her best friend, Kim, a lot too. Kim brought out the best in Mia and helped Mia make the right decisions. Without Kim Mia wouldn't be the girl that she was in that book Kim helped shape her through all of her tough times, She was always there for Mia and you could feel that love between the two. Lastly, she loved Adam very much, even though Adam and Mia were so so different, their bond and relationship couldn't have been any stronger. Adam shaped Mia into a strong loving girl that he loved very much. I loved Mia and Adam's relationship because even if they end up not together anymore they will still be a big part of each others lives and they will always have a spot for each other in each others heart.

The book that I will be reading next is "Heaven is for real". I want to read this book because it will be a good change for me. I always read books that are fiction and have a love story in them, I like reading those kind of books because it is nice to take a break from the real world and dream about a life with a cute love story in it. Also fiction made up story's are very interesting to me because they can be what ever the author wants it to be and this makes for a very interesting plot and therefore makes a very good story. The book "Heaven is for real" is a book written about a true story, so i am interesting n seeing if I will like this book or not.

The book that I am reading is if I Stay what is happening in the book right now is something happened with Mia's body and she had to go into surgery. But she didn't follow her body into surgery she just stayed in the ICU until her body came out. All of these monitors started going off and  these all of these nurses flooded her room and then they took her into surgery, it over whelmed her and she couldn't follow herself with everything that was going on. Once her body came back her whole family could visit her and her Grams and Gramps come in and they just sit down next to her and start talking her her like any regular conversation except for Mia can't respond. Willow is now her nurse because for some reason she doesn't have to be at her old hospital anymore and Mia thinks that that reason is because her brother died and Willow can;t do anything else for him so there is no reason for her to be at her old hospital anymore.

The way that Gayle Forman has been building suspense in his book is by Mia not being alive and talking to people but she is not dead because she can see everyone around her and she can walk around. This builds great suspense because you don't know what is going to happening to Mia and weather she is going to live or not. It is so hard for Mia right now to figure out what is happening to her because she doesn't know what to do. Mia has got this thought in her brain that she has to decide weather she wants to stay or not,but she doesn't know how to decide or even if she know what she would pick yet. She isn't ready for that decision and that creates a lot of suspense because you just want to know what she is going to chose, weather to stay or not, and how she is going to chose it.

This is a very effective way to create suspense. It is effective because is it keeping the reader on the hook of wanting to know more. You aren't reeling them in but you are not leaving the rope too loose you are just keeping a little tug onto the rope which is enough to keeping them wanting to know more. You want to know weather Mia is going to stay or not and it is killing me inside to not know. I think that Gayle Forman couldn't have picked a better way to build suspense and I can't wait to know what happens in the end.

The book that I am reading is If I Stay. What is happening in the book right now is Mia just found out that her brother, Teddy, is dead. She figures this out not by actually seeing him dead but because of willow. Willow is a close of Mia's dad because when they were younger Mia's dad's friend Henry dated Willow and she snapped him back into reality by getting him to stop drinking. Willow is also a nurse, and she is now at Mia's hospital, not at her own hospital, and she is still in her nurse clothes that she normally always takes off right after she is done with work. this makes Mia think that since Willow isn't at her own hospital then that means that she doesn't need to be there anymore for some reason. Mia knows that that reason is because Teddy died and she can't do anything more to help him so she came to visit Mia.

This is a really sad part in the book because after that chapter ends Mia starts telling stories about Teddy. She talks about how when her mom was in labor with Teddy she was there throughout the whole thing and when Teddy came out Mia was the first person he saw, and Mia got to cut the umbilical cord. She talks about how there was certain things that only she could do for him like how when he was a baby and got all fussy, Mia was the only one that could calm him down by playing him a song on her cello. Or Mia was the only one that was allowed to read Teddy chapters from Harry Potter every night. Lastly she talked about her magical kiss. Whenever Teddy got hurt only Mia's kisses would calm him down and he would feel a lot better. All of these stories made her realize that she could never give him magical kisses to cure what has happened to him and that Teddy will never get to do anything ever again. Teddy will miss out on everything that Mia has already gone through, and this makes Mia feel like she should have been taken away instead of him.

Since all of this has just happened in the book it makes it hard to predict what is going to happening next. But it also makes me intrigued to find out what she will chose. now that she knows all of her family is gone, does she really want to live a life without the people that she loves most? Or does she want to die and never get to live her unfinished life? She loves the rest of her Family that she has left and she loves her friends and her boyfriend too, so all of that is very hard to leave and i think it is tempting her to want to stay.I am almost done with this book and i am excited to see happens in the end.

The book that I am still reading is if I stay. What is happening in my book right now is Mia is telling a story about how here and her family are different. They are different because of their types of music that they like, they seem like they wouldn't ever be able to get along with how different they are from each other. The story that she is telling is particularly about her and her dad. She said that when she first started playing the cello her dad was still in a rock band. She never played with anyone lese like her dad did and she never had any people in the crowd standing and yelling and cheering for her so she decided to quit I the 8th grade. But her best friend Kim convinced her to keep playing because she was way to good to stop now.
I am very surprised that Mia still hasn't felt any emotion yet. Both of her parents died, and she saw their dead bodies, and she doesn't know if her brother is dead or if he is at a hospital somewhere. And yet Mia still hasn't shredded a single tear. If I saw my parents dead and their brains laying all across the street, I wouldn't be able to handle myself and I have no idea what I would do, but I do know one thing, I would be crying. Also she hasn't found her little brother and she hasn't bothered to look for him or any thing. Lastly, Mia is still in a state of where she can see and hear everyone around her like she is still alive, but they can't see or hear her. Why isn't Mia trying to figure what she has to do to get out of this state or why hasn't Mia tried to figure out what is happening to her? All she is doing is walking around just following her boyfriend, Adam, and her family.

What I like about what is happening in with this book is that every other chapter it switches from being about what is happening to her now and what has happened to her in the past. Even though sometimes you just want to get on with what is happening to her right now, but the little stories about her life in between each chapter gives you good incite into her old life and how she used to be and how she cam to be the person that she is now. Also you get to learn about her family and her friends and her boyfriend too.  I think that these little through back stories in between will have a meaning towards the end of the story. I also like how even though Mia can't talk to her boyfriend now she still  has a relationship that she can still feel with him even though Adam doesn't even know that Mia is with him.

Sunday, September 21, 2014

I am still reading the book if I Stay, and i am really enjoying it. What is happening in my book is that Mia's boyfriend has finally come to the hospital. She has been worried about how he was going to be notified that she is in the hospital. Adam was told by her best friend, Kim. Kim and Adam's relationship wasn't  really left off the way that Mia wanted it to be. Mia thought that since She was dating Adam and Kim was her best friend that Adam and Kim should be best friends too. But they weren't really, they didn't hate each other but they just weren't as close as Mia wanted them to be. In the hospital they wouldn't let Adam into the ICU to visit Mia and this brought Kim and Adam closer because Kim comforted him and tried to figure out a way to get him to see Mia.

The best thing about my book right now is the love relationship between Mia and Adam. There relationship is one of those that seems like it shouldn't work but it does. There differences bring them closer together. Mia likes classical music and is quit and kinda shy and really isn't that outgoing. But Adam on the other hand is really outgoing and is loud and he likes pop/rock music that is loud. But their relationship couldn't be any stronger. They love each other so much and it makes them so comfortable around each other and they could just talk all day or they could sit in silence without it being awkward. Adam and Mia's relationship is my favorite thing about this book so far.

A quote that is most important in this chapter is when it says "With both arms locked around his waist, she turns to the nurse, her eyes blazing with fury. 'you don't understand!' she cries"(pg 107). This quote is the most important in this chapter because it shows how the relationship between Adam and Kim is growing stronger. Adam and Kim were only "friends" because of Mia. They were both very special to Mia in different ways and that is why they were connected. But Mia always wanted them to be closer, and this is when it happens. Kim accepts Adam and lets him fall into her arms so she can comfort him, not because of Mia, she did it because she wanted to. Kim wanted to make Adam feel like someone was there for him through this rough time because he just found out that Mia is in the hospital and then right after that he finds out that he is not allowed to see her. This is all that Mia has ever wanted and now that Kim and Adam are actually friends no matter what happens of whether she stays or not, she feels like she at least accomplished this.

The book that I am still reading is If I Stay. This book is really good! Although it is not out of my range of books, I like reading books that have love stories in them. Even if they have action (like the hunger games) or if they are sad (like the fault in our stars). I love them! So this book if I stay is like one of my typical love story books that I read. That is why I love it so much !

I can relate this book to my self because the family relationship. Their family is very diverse and likes all sorts of different things. Like their music selection is very different, they all prefer different styles of music and they have to compromise with a certain selection in order to get along. They also make jokes at each other and make fun of each other. But they don't laugh at each other they laugh together as on whole family. This family is just always happy with what they have and they are enjoying life while they had it.  This is like my family because we are so diverse and we all like our own different things. Like at family dinner my mom has to make a very broad selection of food because my sister is a vegetarian and me and my brother are very picky. Also my family likes to make jokes at each other and laugh and just have fun. So when Mia talks about her family it reminds me of my family too.

What's happening in the book right now is that Mia is telling stories about her family. She also talked about how her family (grandma and grandpa) have come to visit her in the hospital. She has never seen them so sad before. Also she is very concerned on  how her bay friend is going to be alerted of how she is in the hospital and her family is dead. Her grandparents don't have cell phones and her boyfriends number isn't memorized by her grandparents. She just told a story about how her cousin Kim is the same age as her and everyone expected them to be best friends and they didn't like the idea of that so they tried to be enemies. They would always give each other mean looks and make fun of each other and one time Kim gave Mia a paper that was calling her mean names. They also got in a fist fight trying to show everyone that they weren't really friends. But in the end they realized that they actually have a lot in common so they became friends. KIm also came to visit her in the Hospital.

The book that I am going to read is "If I Stay". I am on page page 51, so I am not too far into the book yet but this is what I have figured out.

This book is about a girl, named Mia who lives in a family of 4, herself, her brother (Teddy), and her mother and father, she also has a gramp and a gram (Grandma and Grandpa). Mia also has a cool boyfriend name Adam and he is in college close by to where she lives and he is in a band. Mia also plays the cello and she is really good at it, she tried out for Julliard for college because her cello teacher and her gramps really wanted her too, but she hasn't gotten the response yet. In the beginning of the book it starts of with a snow day and the whole family wants to go somewhere together. I have noticed that there isn't chapters it just starts off with a new time of the day and in each chapter it alternates between a flash back and what is happening in real life. The family gets in a car crash and Mia finds herself seeing everything that is happening even after the car crash. She finds her dead mom and dad and her brother who I think is still breathing. Mia also sees everything that is happening to her and she can't tell if she is dead or alive.

What has happened so far has lead me to some predictions. I think that Mia is still alive but she is in vital condition so she still needs help to survive by some machines. Since she is technically still breathing but she has no active response from her body she is stuck in between passing on to heaven and staying alive, because she is in this condition Mia can see everything that is happening. Since her parents are already dead I think that her brother will die too and so her whole family will be dead. But her gramps and grams are still alive and most importantly so is her boyfriend, Adam. I think that Mia will have to decide if she wants to stay in earth with her boy friend and grandparents, or if she wants to die with the rest of her family.

The author of my book is Gayle Forman. I haven't heard or read about any of his others books before, but I know that my book has a second called "Where She Went". I am guessing that, this book would be about the choice that Mia made on where she decided to go and the consequences of what she chose. Even though the book is called "Where she Went" I am really hoping that this book "If I Stay" tells us what she chooses to do and not leave us on a cliff hanger forcing us to read the next book. But I have heard from the opinions of my friends that this is a really good book and is worth reading.

The theme or central idea of my book The Fault in our Stars is persevere. Hazel has to push through or persevere through her cancer to find out what life has to offer. Hazels distraction from her life is her cancer. Sometimes the reality of having cancer takes over your life and holds you back from the great things like love. Hazel has someone who loves hers very much but she doesn't notice it or acknowledge it at first because she thinks that it is nothing. But then wants she realizes that she is starting to fall for Augustus Waters she tries to stop it. Hazel sees herself as a bomb, she thinks that since she has cancer one day she is going to die and it is going to hurt all of those around her. She is already to far in with her parents to not hurt them when she dies, but she is trying to avoid hurting Gus because she knows that she could. She tries to not fall in love with Augustus by telling him that they could only be friends. But in the end pain demands to be felt there is no way around pain you just have to persevere through that pain to find love.

Some things that I love about my book The Fault in our Stars is Hazels and Augustus's love story. Their love in this story is so strong and inspiring that it keeps you hooked the whole time. Love in this book is very real and strong Hazel tries to hold it back as long as she could so she doesn't hurt him. Witch makes the book even more interesting! You can tell the love attraction that they have but Hazel holds it back. It gives the book a forbidden love kind of feeling and I love those kind of books.

Some things that I don't like about the book is the ending. In the end Augustus gets cancer again, bu this time it is all over his body and it is incurable. Gus knows he is going to die soon it is just a matter of when. This cancer in the end of the book makes him so weak, that his last days with Hazel aren't even exciting events they are just them hanging out and not really talking. I don't like this, i feel like their last days together should be more memorable in a happy way. Also I don't like how the cancer made Augustus seem weak and not strong, kind of like he just gave up. In the beginning of the book that was the opposite of Gus and i wish he could have stayed that way the whole time. But the ending was still very good it was just sad and hard to take in all at once. The book the fault in our stars is one that I recommend to anyone of all ages!!!!!
